What's food got to do with it?
Food Options
We believe that food is a fundamental part of every child's life irrespective of age. Young children need a varied diet so they can grow and learn. We provide fresh fruit and vegetables during the day as well as access to drinking water at all times.
For babies, we ensure that they have the opportunity to explore different foods and textures by implementing child led weaning.
For toddlers, we consult parents about food preferences for their children and use this as a base to expand their experience of food ensuring that they are able to eat independently and understand processes of preparing for meals and tidying up afterwards.
For older children, we try to encourage a variety of cuisines so that the children are able to expand their knowledge and experience of foods from different cultural backgrounds.
Mealtimes are a pleasant social occasion and our staff sit with the children while they eat – feeding babies and assisting younger children when they need help. Staff always encourage older children to be independent, serving their own food and using their cutlery to feed themselves.
