Ages and stages of learning

Children all develop in different ways and need support and encouragement to help them achieve their best. Below is a little insight into what support we give them when they are at each developmental stage.

Babies (birth -1)
Babies (birth -1)

Little Ones aged birth -1

At this delicate age, we make sure we know them really well and understand their wants and needs. We hold and handle babies, since sensitive touch helps to build security and attachment. We Engage in playful interactions that encourage young babies to respond to, or mimic, adults. We follow the baby's lead by repeating noises they make, mirroring movements and showing the baby that we are listening. We take notice when babies turn away, signalling their need for less stimulation, and use the copying games from parents as the basis for their play.

Toddlers (1-3)
Toddlers (1-3)

Little Ones aged 1-3

We talk with toddlers about special people, such as their family members, e.g. grandparents, siblings etc. Toddlers are active little people who are naturally curious and love to explore. They need to be provided with lots of exciting activities to help develop their attention and concentration. They are developing their speaking and listening skills and need good, well spoken role models to learn from. Toddlers are notoriously known to push boundaries at this stage and need loving supportive adults to help manage their feelings.

Pre schoolers (3-4)
Pre schoolers (3-4)

Little Ones aged 3-4

We ensure that children of this age have lots of opportunities to join in activities and conversations. We give children endless open-ended play opportunities to develop their creativity and imagination. We help them to recognise and understand the rules for being together with others, such as waiting for a turn and talking about feelings of being sad, happy or cross. We model ways of interacting positively with others and comforting or helping them. The children are encouraged to listen out for discreet sounds and have fun with language through songs, poems and stories which will later help them with reading and writing when they go to school.

After Schoolers
After Schoolers

We have some very busy young people whose parents can sometimes be working long hours or shift work, making it very hard for them to properly look after their children after school time. Our After a long hard day at school, children need somewhere to relax, have a bite to eat, chat about their day and get some help with their homework or reading. Family dining is encouraged and children help to set the table and clear up afterwards. After school snack/mealtime is a social time where children get to hear stories about each other's schools and classes. Children have access to the outdoor area; we go on walks and there are lots of books and board games available to keep them engaged until they go home.

Testimonials

We couldn’t be happier with the care our child receives here at Little Ones. From the very first day, Aalya made us feel reassured by the warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment they provide. Our little one has the opportunity to engage in fun as well as educational activities and within the 6 months he has been attending we can that he is developing more and more each day. All the staff here are wonderful! They are so patient, attentive and always communicate well, keeping us informed about how our child is getting on. It make us feel comfortable knowing that they go the extra mile for the Little Ones to make sure they are well looked after, happy and comfortable.
